My Professional Journey

About Me

I serve as a DONA certified birth doula in Moscow, Pullman, Palouse, Lewiston, and beyond! With a doula by my side during my first birth, I was amazed by the power of my body, the joy of working with my husband to cope with labor, and the wildness of childbirth. Thus began my journey to become a doula - I want to help women to love and be at peace with their birth experience. Being a doula has been one of the greatest joys, challenges, and honors of my life. Birth is a sacred time, and I am incredibly privileged to come alongside families as they experience it.

I received my bachelors in Secondary Education (English and TESOL) from the University of Idaho, and fell in love with Moscow. I am passionate about helping people gain the knowledge and skills to critically think and confidently navigate challenging situations. I love being outdoors, cooking, reading, tickling and chasing my toddler, and drinking coffee with people I love.

Qualifications

DONA International Certified Birth Doula

DONA (Doulas Of North America) International is a highly respected doula organization.  I am currently certified through DONA. DONA is also the most well-known birth training program among hospitals. Professionalism and excellence are high priorities for DONA. I am proud to say I am certified through this amazing organization!

Spinning Babies Training

After seeing very few "normal" births, I began to realize how much goes into baby's positioning before and during labor. As I began to learn more about this, I wanted to become confident in identifying stalls or difficulties due to tightness or poor positioning and in doing more than just a few random position changes in labor to help resolve these. Attending a Spinning Babies workshop has given me many tools for helping clients address pregnancy aches and pains, to making room for baby to find its optimal birth position for your body, to having a game plan for different issues that may arise in labor.

Secondary Education, B.S., English and TESOL

I received my bachelor's from the University of Idaho and taught in Idaho junior and senior high schools for two years before committing to staying home with my little ones. I am passionate about equipping people to reach their goals, whether in the classroom or a birthing tub in a  living room. My experience in the classroom taught me much about how to teach and learn from others; I love how much there is to learn about childbirth, and I think I love sharing it even more!

Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certified (AHA)

I hold a current certification for adult and pediatric CPR and first aid. As your support person, I am prepared for the unexpected.
